Black Tiger Shrimp Packaging Upgrade: Let Premium Products Speak for Themselves
Have you ever walked into a supermarket and looked at frozen shrimp boxes? However, in many cases, the shrimp inside is completely hidden. So, customers cannot see the quality directly. This was exactly the problem our seafood client faced. They sell premium black tiger shrimp. Therefore, they wanted to upgrade their packaging. In addition, they hoped to add a transparent window. As a result, customers could clearly see the shrimp instead of guessing what’s inside.
To solve this problem, we worked closely with the client. First, we studied the characteristics of shrimp products. Then, we addressed each challenge step by step. For example, shrimp are usually stored with ice or in frozen conditions. Also, shrimp heads and tails are sharp. So, the packaging must be strong enough. Otherwise, the shrimp could puncture the box.
Therefore, we chose long-fiber white paperboard or kraft paper. Because these materials are tougher, they perform better in low temperatures. At the same time, frozen conditions can make normal paper brittle. So, stronger material was necessary. In addition, when shrimp thaw, water can leak. As a result, we applied double-sided PE coating inside and outside the box. This helps prevent moisture damage. Moreover, since shrimp touch the box directly, we used food-grade paperboard. So, food safety is ensured from the beginning.
Next, we focused on design details. On one hand, we wanted a good display. On the other hand, we needed practical use. Therefore, we placed the window in the center of the box. This avoids stress points. At the same time, it shows the middle part of the shrimp, which is the thickest and most attractive. As a result, customers can quickly judge the size and quality.
However, normal plastic film was not suitable. Because in freezers, it easily fogs or frosts. So, it blocks the view. Instead, we used anti-fog film. Therefore, even in low temperatures, the shrimp remain clearly visible.
In addition, we considered anti-counterfeiting and usability. For example, seafood warehouses are often dark and humid. So, barcodes can become blurry. Therefore, we improved printing clarity and contrast. Also, we left blank space around the codes. As a result, scanning becomes easier and more reliable.
Meanwhile, we selected a hexagon box structure. Because it does not require glue, it is easy to assemble. So, packing efficiency is higher. At the same time, the structure is stable. Therefore, it fits well in wet and slippery environments. As a result, product damage during transport is reduced.
For printing, we used eco-friendly soybean ink. So, it is safer and has no strong odor. In addition, we followed food contact regulations of the destination countries. Therefore, the packaging meets safety standards.
During production, we also solved lamination issues. Because PE coating reduces glue absorption, normal glue may fail. So, we used water-based adhesive. As a result, the paper layers bond tightly. Even in frozen conditions, the box remains stable.
Finally, during packing and shipping, our team carefully managed every step. So, the products were delivered safely.
So, what about the result? One month later, the client’s brand manager shared a photo from a local grocery store. Through the window, every shrimp looked clear and fresh. In addition, the appearance was excellent. She said happily, “Now customers actually pick up our boxes. Because they can see exactly what they are buying. So, it feels like the product is speaking for itself.”
